About
Joan Oldfield is a dedicated Volunteer Ambulance Officer for SA Ambulance. Her role involves responding to emergency calls for medical assistance, accidents, and other emergencies. She conducts initial patient assessments to determine the nature and severity of injuries or illnesses, gathers patient history, and checks vital signs to make informed treatment decisions. Joan administers basic life support interventions, such as CPR, bandaging, splinting, and assisting with childbirth, and assists with advanced life support procedures.
With 17 years of experience as a volunteer Ambulance Officer and 3 years as a Regional Educator for SA Ambulance, Joan delivers courses like Provide First Aid and Provide Advanced Resuscitation. She actively participates in professional development workshops and other avenues to maintain and enhance her knowledge and skills.
Joan recently facilitated a Mental Health First Aid course, demonstrating her expertise, organisation, and efficiency. Known for her great communication and problem-solving skills, Joan has an abundance of positive qualities as a trainer
